Colour that survives the projector and the print shop

How we pick palettes for seasonal campaign charts so they remain readable on A3 prints and tired meeting-room projectors.

Colour swatches beside printed chart proofs

Brand neon looks lively in a Figma file and collapses on a washed-out projector. For seasonal campaign performance charts, we test every palette in three places: A3 laser print, laptop screen, and a deliberately dim meeting room.

Rules we keep:

  • No more than five categorical colours on one chart
  • Patterns or labels as a backup for colour-blind readers
  • Red reserved for warnings or under-plan lines — not for the hero brand colour if it fights the ink

Clients sometimes ask us to “just use the brand guidelines.” We will — after a proof. If the proof fails, we propose a chart-safe subset and document it in the pack notes so future seasons stay consistent.

Browse anonymised examples in the Chart Gallery, or ask for a palette proof when you request a chart pack.
